Talented & Gifted Education
How are students identified for TAG?
Banks School District provides a comprehensive K-12 TAG identification and services program. Talented and Gifted students are those who score or potentially score at or above the 97% on tests of aptitude or achievement in math or reading. Identification begins with a nomination process and includes test scores, classroom work samples, and behavioral checklists. Services include school TAG Coordinators who facilitate identification and promote communication with teachers and parents to ensure instruction occurs at the appropriate rate and level, and that students have opportunities to experience advanced coursework. If you would like to nominate your child for TAG Services, please contact the appropriate TAG coordinator.
How are students served?
Teachers develop a TAG education plan for eligible students. This plan focuses on instruction designed at an appropriate rate and level for the students learning needs. This may include acceleration strategies, differentiated instruction, or a variety of other research-based strategies found to be effective in TAG instruction.
